Parkside Homes: Corn shucking yields one worm

Parkside's hand craft show and tell was held Monday afternoon. Exhibitors from all areas of Parkside were present to show their crafts and tell their stories. An assortment of fruit breads and cream cheese and lemonade was served for refreshments.
Care plans were Tuesday morning. LeOra Grunau gave a morning organ concert. Eva Tessman, Frank Peters and Ben Ewert were the winners of the domino games played with volunteers. Carla Koslowsky and her piano students gave a piano recital Tuesday evening and served dessert as a treat.
Wednesday morning, the residents shucked 130 ears of corn out on the patio. The ears of corn were served for supper. The worm award went to Agnes Funk; she found the only worm there was in the 130 ears of corn. A memorial for Don Harding was held before Bible class on Wednesday. Curtis Wiens taught the Bible class and spoke on the book of Esther. Vanilla was the ice cream day flavor.
Peggy Brandt led the morning hymn sing. Mabel Suderman gave a short devotional. Davie Wiebe brought a program on the Adobe House and Mennonite Heritage Thursday afternoon. The group was served pluma mousse and poppy seed bread for the afternoon snack. Beverly Harms helped with the serving.
The weekend quiz was handed out Friday afternoon. Dan Foth was the blackout winner of the bingo games called by Mariann Unruh.
Popcorn was served Saturday afternoon. On Sunday morning, Kaethe Warkentin continued a study on I Corinthians during the weekly Sunday school lesson. The Zion Lutheran Church was in charge of the afternoon worship service with Helen Schmidt serving as hostess.
Exercises and kaffee haus were daily, and the week's topic of the Genesis Club was garden foods. The Read the Bible through in 2002 group is reading in the book of Isaiah this week.
