Parkside Homes: HMS students help residents celebrate holiday

Middle school students helped Parkside residents turn a cookie into a Halloween spider treat Monday afternoon.
Care plans were Tuesday morning. Dave Classen and Rosalie Suderman were the winners of the domino games played with volunteers in the afternoon. Stephen Humber spoke on I Peter 1 at the Wednesday Bible class. The ice cream day flavor was chocolate.
The autumn program "Pumpkin Patch Parables" was given by Peggy Brandt, activity director, Wednesday evening. Treats of pumpkin bread and cider were served after short readings and an object lesson titled "Why Christians Are like Pumpkins."
The kindergarten children in costumes were met by Parkside's Bubbles the Clown for a Halloween Day Parade of the Parkside halls. A memorial service for Mabel Suderman was held Thursday afternoon. Tammy Heidel and Vida Bartel brought special music, and Pastor Tim Kliewer was the speaker.
The Longeneckers gave a concert Friday afternoon. Pumpkin bread was baked in the bread machine on Friday, and the weekend quiz was handed out.
Saturday afternoon popcorn was served. A video was shown for the Sunday school class. Dave Penner brought the Sunday worship service.
Exercises with Teresa and kaffee haus were daily. The Read the Bible through in 2002 group completed Luke this week.
