Parkside Homes: Residents enjoy Valentine tea

By PEGGY BRANDT

Monday afternoon, Susie Kliewer spoke about preventing falls at the monthly resident council meeting.

Tuesday, the domino groups gathered around the tables for an afternoon of games and a snack of cookies and coffee.

John Savoia continued a series on the stories behind some of our favorite old hymns. The hymn for this week was "It Is Well with my Soul." Chocolate ice cream was served after class.

Carla Koslowsky played piano for the hymn sing before lunch. A "Liver lovers lunch" was served to seven Parkside liver lovers at noon. They licked the platter clean! A Valentine's tea was held in the afternoon with a great concert by Yevonne Cushenberry. Heart-shaped homemade cookies and heart-shaped cream cheese sandwiches were served as a special treat. Morning Star Church brought us the evening service.

Valentine's Day brought treats and surprises for many residents. Residents received singing valentines, flowers, treats from Tabor groups, lots of cards, and of course chocolates.

Bingo games called by Mariann Unruh were played by a room full of residents in the afternoon. Bananas were given to all the bingo participants. They also received chocolate candies for winning.

Afternoon popcorn was served on Saturday. On Sunday morning, the Kliewer's taught the Sunday school class. Bob Fenstermacher brought the afternoon worship service.

Parkside is need of an accordion, 48-49 bass. If anyone would donate or sell one, it would be greatly appreciated. Contact Peggy Brandt at 947-2301.
