Parkside Homes: Residents, staff enjoy summer picnic

The Parkside Resident Council met Monday afternoon to discuss current issues. The council elected Carl Stelting resident of the month for August.

Care plans were Tuesday morning. Rosalie Suderman, Ben Ewert, and Otto Hiebert were the winners of the domino games played with volunteers.

A memorial service for Marge Thirtle was held Wednesday afternoon. Stephen Humber gave the meditation. Chocolate was the Ice Cream Day flavor.

The staff and residents had a summer picnic at noon on Thursday. Glen Thiessen was in charge of the grills, and Shirley Hein and her staff prepared the other menu items. There were grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, potato salad, watermelon, chips and cake. Mabel Suderman gave the meal prayer. The Morning Star Church brought the evening program.

The weekend quiz was handed out in the afternoon. Sarah Gaede was the blackout winner of the bingo games called by Mariann Unruh. The bread for the day was stone ground whole wheat.

Popcorn was served Saturday afternoon. On Sunday morning, Kaethe Warkentin continued a study on I Corinthians during the weekly Sunday school lesson. The First Southern Baptist Church was in charge of the afternoon worship service with Trista Hanley serving as hostess.

Exercises and Kaffee Haus were daily, and the week's topic of the Genesis Club was tools. The Read The Bible through in 20023 group is reading in the book of Psalms this week.
