Parkside Homes; Service honors America

The rhythm band enjoyed patriotic songs Monday afternoon.

Care plans were Tuesday morning. LeOra Grunau gave the morning organ concert. Irma Ens, Eva Tessman, Art Wiebe and Dave Classen were the winners of the domino games played with volunteers.

The Remember America service was held at Parkside at 9 a.m. Wednesday morning. Peggy Brandt led the service, and Vida Bartel provided the music. A model depicting the World Trade Center was lighted with candles. We remembered not only the losses our nation suffered a year ago on Sept. 11, but the healing and growth that has taken place since that day. We prayed for our nation and its leaders, wept for the losses brought by evil and hate, and resolved to be a light to those around us. Ben Ewert, Carl Stelting, Elmer Klassen and Ed Funk were the guests of Jake Hodel for the weekly Friendship Meal. Bob Fenstermacher spoke at the Wednesday Bible class.

Peggy Brandt led the Thursday morning hymn sing with Carla Koslowsky accompanying at the piano. Mabel Suderman gave the devotional. The video from the Hillsboro Arts and Crafts Fair was shown in the afternoon, and Susie Kliewer made "walking tacos" for everyone. Beverly Harms helped with the tacos and drink. Celia Gross played the 5 p.m. organ concert. The Morning Star Church brought the evening program.

A chocolate "kiss" was given to all for International Chocolate Day observed Friday. The weekend quiz was handed out Friday afternoon. Lillian Plett was the blackout winner of the bingo games played Friday afternoon. Mariann Unruh called the bingo games.

Saturday afternoon popcorn was served. On Sunday, the Sunday school class enjoyed Charlton Heston's video, Jesus of Nazareth. St. John's Lutheran Church of Tampa gave the afternoon worship service.

Exercises and kaffeehaus were daily. The Read the Bible Through in 2002 group completed the book of Ezekiel.
