Parkside: Residents attend county fair via video

Monday, residents helped Ben Ewert celebrate his 90th birthday. He shared his small birthday cake with his dinner table partners. In the afternoon, residents decorated large cookies to enter at the fair. This week was also Bear Week and about 30 stuffed bears were displayed around the dining room.
The dominoes group played a number of games Tuesday afternoon and was treated to coffee and cookies baked by Rosemary Freeman. Freeman, Art Wiebe, Frank Peters, and Kaethe Warkentin were the high scorers. A fair supper was enjoyed by residents. Ralph Noriega brought the evening program.
David Fast brought the Wednesday afternoon Bible class. Vanilla soft serve ice cream topped with a chocolate bear was served after the program.
Carla Koslowsky accompanied a group of residents as they sang some of their favorite hymns Thursday morning. At 3 p.m. residents were invited to view the Marion County Fair parade on video that was taken the previous evening. Parkside residents enjoyed the annual fair supper in the evening with hot burgers, borscht, and fresh homemade peach pie provided by Shirley Hein.
Residents were invited to view a video Friday afternoon that was taken at the county fair the night before. They were able to look over the livestock and exhibits, including some entries they had submitted which received blue ribbons. They were also able to take a virtual Ferris wheel ride.
After the video, the bingo games were called by Mariann Unruh. Sarah Friesen was the blackout winner. All players received a banana for participating. The weekend trivia paper created by Rosemary Freeman was delivered to all residents.
Theater popcorn was served Saturday afternoon. Sunday afternoon Trinity Mennonite Church brought the worship program.
