PBHS Class of 2006: Seniors revel in rite of passage years ago

Thirty-two Peabody-Burns High School seniors in the class of 2006 became graduates Sunday at Brown Gymnasium.

The processional and recessional were performed by the PBHS band.

The band also chose "Ballad and Dance" for a special performance during the commencement exercises.

Another musical selection, "For Good," was provided by PBHS Voices.

The KSHSAA Citizenship awards were presented to Lindsay Wiebe and Derek Benson. Class salutatorian Jesse Riggs addressed the crowd as well as class co-valedictorians Wiebe and Anna Zappone.

Scholarship awards were presented by Warren Slocombe, Preston Hodges, Anne Leppke, and Peggy Phillips.

Superintendent Tom Alstrom accepted the class and board members Phillips and William Spangler presented diplomas.

Those students receiving awards were:

Kara Gridley, $1,000 Alumni Award and $200 Fitch Memorial Award.

Stephanie Vetter, $500 Alumni Award, $1,000 George and Mary Gephart Award, and $500 Presidential Freedom Award.

Lindsay Wiebe, $1,000 George E. Trimble Award and $500 Mary Josephine McCreary Memorial Award.

Jesse Riggs, $1,000 George E. Trimble Award, $500 Mary Josephine McCreary Memorial Award, and $600 George Holm Memorial Award.

Kali Alstrom, $1,000 George E. Trimble Award, $500 Mary Josephine McCreary Memorial Award, and $500 Presidential Freedom Award.

Anna Zappone, $1,000 Letha Eberle Award and $500 Mary Josephine McCreary Memorial Award.

Megan Cox, $500 Letha Eberle Award and $500 Mary Josephine McCreary Memorial Award.

Derek Benson, $500 Paul Eberhardt Award, $350 Hart Memorial, and $500 Jensen Award.

Michael Gfeller, $400 Alumni Dance Award and $150 Fred and Teresa Burdorf Award.

Traci Windsor, $250 Barrett, Masonic, Farr Awards.

Ben Jantzen, $200 Fitch Memorial Award and $250 Class of 1955 Award.

Ashley Elliott, $500 Mary Josephine McCreary Memorial Award.
