PBHS student selected for special project
Peabody-Burns High School junior Brett Bass has been accepted to Project Upward Bound, a six-week summer program at Northwest Missouri State University in Marysville, Mo.
The program is federally funded by U.S. Department of Education and sponsored by Northwest Missouri State. It is a college preparatory program designed to serve potential first-generation college students currently enrolled in high school.
The program helps students develop academic skills, build motivation, and provide academic and non-academic support even after they have completed the summer program.
Bass was recommended by his science and math teachers, PBHS faculty members Ann Leppke, Brian Simmonds, and Sarah Spencer. His tuition and room and board will be fully funded and he will receive a stipend to help with personal expenses.
Bass is the son of Kevin Bass of Burns.
