PBHS Warriors end regular season with victory at Berean

Peabody-Burns High School boys' basketball team finished the regular season Feb. 20 with a 55-50 victory against Berean Academy.
Five Warriors, led by Derek Benson with six points, ran up an eight-point edge in the first quarter. Micah Hilliard added four points, Robert Rossberg and Derrick Simmonds had two points each, and Nathan Bishop had one point as PBHS led 15-9.
The PBHS offense exploded in the second with 18 points. Simmonds paced the team with seven, Duane Unruh four, Benson three, and Bishop and Hilliard each had two. The Warriors held Berean to 11 points and led 33-20 at the half.
The Berean offense started to come back in the third with one minute left as it cut the lead to 40-35.
PBHS struggled in the quarter with just seven points. Unruh had four, Hilliard two, and Simmonds one.
Berean got as close as two in the fourth with just less than five minutes to play in the game.
The Warriors held off the charge with 15 more points, seven from the free-throw line late in the game.
Benson had seven points in the fourth, Simmonds five, Hilliard two, and Woodruff one.
