Penner, Liebelt united in arboretum ceremony
Robyn Penner and Cody Liebelt were united in marriage at 6 p.m. May 27, 2006, at an outdoor ceremony at the Dyck Arboretum of the Plains in Hesston.
The bride is the daughter of Stuart and Lynette Penner of Hillsboro and granddaughter of Milton and Linda Goertzen of Goessel.
The groom is the son of Randy Liebelt and Gala Liebelt of Satanta, and the grandson of LaVern Liebelt of Minot, N.D.
Pastor Tim Kliewer of Trinity Mennonite Church officiated at the double-ring ceremony.
Aaron Zeller read the scripture.
Musicians included the groom's cousin, soloist Crystal McDaniel, guitarist Greg Ingebretson, trombonist Mitch Kaufman, uncle of the bride, trombonist Renae Peters, trumpeter Don McDaniel, uncle of the groom, and trumpeter Arlin Buller. Roseann.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless gown with an asymmetrical waist, laced corset back, and long slim skirt with a sweep train. The bodice was embellished with embroidery, crystals, beads, pearls, and sequins. Her elbow-length veil was lined with crystals. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of white tulips and lilies.
Matrons of honor were Carrie Friesen of Hesston and Lindsey Sola of Gardner, both sisters of the bride. Bridesmaids were Holly Lindsay of Hillsboro and Christa Taylor of Kidron, Ohio.
Flower girl was Marina Kaufman of Prairie Village, cousin of the bride.
Andrew Liebelt of Garden City served his brother as best man. Groomsmen were Erik Garza of Satanta, Ross Duerksen of Lehigh, and Ronn Coates of Durham.
Ring bearer was Lejer McDaniel of Valley Center, cousin of the groom.
Ushers were Darin Hamerschmidt, Dustin Jost, Chris Larson, David Nieto, and Brent Weeks.
Guest book attendant was Jodi Enz and personal attendant was Michelle Reith.
Program attendants were Nicole and Tia Goertzen, cousins of the bride. Gift attendants were Ryan Goertzen, Laird and Heath Goertzen, and Daniel Kaufman, all cousins of the bride.
Following the wedding ceremony, a meal, reception, and dance were held under a tent at the Dyck Arboretum. Hosts and hostesses were Willie and Kala Nickel, friends of the bride, and Jerry and Adalina Green, friends of the groom.
Cake and punch servers were aunts of the bride, Judy Goertzen, Rosemary Reimer, and Ruth Goertzen.
The bride is a graduate of Hillsboro High School and a 2006 graduate of Bethel College, majoring in business administration. She is employed at Landmark National Bank in Manhattan.
The groom is a graduate of Satanta High School graduate and is a spring 2007 candidate for graduation from Kansas State University, majoring in secondary education in history.
Following a honeymoon to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, the couple resides in Manhattan.
