Pete Nickel

Pete F. Nickel, 89, of Moundridge died May 16, 2002, at Moundridge Manor in Moundridge.

Born July 21, 1912, at Hillsboro, he was the son of John M. and Sarah (Friesen) Nickel.

He was a resident of Moundridge for 23 years moving from Hillsboro.

He was a farmer and a member of Gospel Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in Moundridge.

On Aug. 22, 1937, he married Berniece Dyck at Hillsboro.

He was preceded in death by daughter, Janice Nickel, four brothers, John, Clarence, Levi, and Harvey Nickel; and twin granddaughters.

Survivors include his wife of the home; sons, Jerry Nickel of Burns, Harvey Nickel of Macon, Miss., and Llewellyn Nickel of Brooksville, Miss.; daughters, Joan Litwiller of Hillsboro and Laverna Geisbrecht of Sun City West, Ariz.; sister Justina Ensz of Linden, Alberta, Canada; 21 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

Services were held May 19 at Gospel Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in Moundridge with Ministers Dale Koehn and Richard Mininger officiating. Burial was at Alexanderfeld Mennonite Church Cemetery in rural Hillsboro

A memorial has been established with Moundridge Manor in Moundridge.
