Philip Karnowski

Philip D. Karnowski, 84, of Hillsboro, died March 5, 2008.

Born Oct. 24, 1923, at Paxico, he was the son of Peter and Maybelle (Weiss) Karnowski.

On Oct. 23, 1999, he married Mildred Elizabeth Granada.

He was a member of Hillsboro United Methodist Church and St. Bernard Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Emma Lou Grabhorn Karnowski in 1995; and a daughter, Thersa Karnowski.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Karnowski of Hillsboro; six sons, Philip Jr. of St. Louis, Mo., Paul of Marietta, Ga., Mark of Hazelwood, Mo., John of Oregon, Peter of Manhattan, and Joseph of New York, N.Y.; three daughters, Mary Ababazy of Newport News, Va., Martha Boyd of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Margaret Eades of Springfield, Ill.; two sisters, Mary Dinkel of Topeka and Virginia Billings of Bonner Springs; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were Monday afternoon at Hillsboro United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Grant officiating.

Burial was Tuesday at Wamego Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established with St. Bernard Catholic Church in care of Jost Funeral Home, Hillsboro.
