Planning commission continues with comprehensive community plan
Hillsboro Planning Commission met Thursday in Hillsboro City Building for its regular meeting.
John Riggs of Riggs and Associates of Lindsborg, planning and zoning consultant, presented section 1-background for planning of the comprehensive community plan preliminary report.
The commission discussed ways to get community input.
"We need to get the public to give its view of what the planning commission should accomplish," said Riggs. "We want participation and we need to get participation. The state wants documented proof of community involvement."
According to Riggs, once the land-use survey is completed, it can be used as a visual to help the community determine what it wants.
"We need to get the land-use survey done," Riggs said. "You can plan for the future if you know what people want and people need a visual."
Riggs should have the survey completed within a couple of months.
The planning commission discussed holding neighborhood focus group meetings to encourage participation.
The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 30 in the city building.
