Public invited to hear Hatteberg at banquet

Hillsboro Community Foundation will host a celebration banquet 6:30 p.m. Monday at Parkview Church Activity Center to announce the formation of the Hillsboro Area Impact Fund.

Earnings from the endowment will benefit charitable groups and community enhancement projects in Hillsboro and surrounding communities.

"Our community has benefited from a heritage rich with passion to succeed and refined by the passion to accomplish goals," said Mike Kleiber, HCF board chairman. "This fund focuses on continuing the success of those who have built our tremendous community by taking responsibility today to nurture our future."

Others currently serving on the board are: Brad Bartel, vice chairman; Steve Garrett, treasurer; Delores Dalke, Jim Brennan, Marcella Bruce, Jayson Hanschu, Kim Kaufman, and Gordon Mohn.

Larry Hatteberg, television journalist and creator of the "Hatteberg's People" series, will be the speaker for the event. Hatteberg began with KAKE-TV in 1963 and immediately distinguished himself. He has developed a deep appreciation for the small towns of Kansas and their residents who live life with respect and passion.

Banquet attendance is open to the public, but reservations are required. The meal and program have been underwritten by several local businesses and are free of charge. But reservations must be made by Thursday by calling an HCF board member. Parkview Church Activity Center is located at 610 S. Main.
