Quick Flick Video running on fast forward

Squeezing in a few minutes of conversation with Cora Friesen lately is an awesome accomplishment. As manager of Quick Flick Video - Radio Shack, she is in the enviable position of running a thriving business while preparing to move that same operation to larger, newly remodeled quarters.

"We have been cramped and crowded for a long time," said Friesen in reference to her old location at 110 N. Main in Hillsboro. When a person becomes enlightened about Quick Flick's various offerings, it isn't difficult to understand Friesen's desire for change.

Entering the business on North Main means brushing shoulders with other customers as they browse the shelves of Radio Shack gifts, toys and electronics. Hallmark cards gain the attention of other bystanders who stepped in to rent a video or DVD and remembered an upcoming holiday or birthday.

Others come in to drop off or pick up dry cleaning, snatch a few minutes in the tanning bed or grab snacks and drinks. If that isn't enough, Friesen also carries cell phone excessories and does special ordering for customers. It is easy to understand the need for more space.

Last Saturday night customers entered the old location for the last time. Quick Flick remained closed Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday as employees worked hard to move into the new location at 101 S. Main.

Friesen wants to offer a better shopping environment for customers at the South Main building. There she will be able to display her products better visually, expand Radio Shack stock, and expand cell phone excessories, all without the crowded atmosphere.

Although the move entails some changes (for the good), other things remain the same. The phone number (947-2534) and hours of operation (10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday) will not change.

Awesome as the accomplishment may be now, people should soon be able to get more than a few minutes worth of conversation from Friesen. Lately her schedule has been as cramped and crowded as the old building for Quick Flick. Hopefully that will all change when the sawdust settles.
