R.J. Bartel
R.J. Bartel, 91, died Jan. 28, 2008, at Parkside Homes, Hillsboro.
Born March 22, 1916, at Hillsboro, he was the son of John and Sarah (Quiring) Bartel.
He was a farmer and owned Bartel Insurance Agency. He was a member of Trinity Mennonite Church.
On Jan. 30, 1942, he married Mathilda Rempel near Hillsboro. She died in 2004.
He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Bernice Unruh and Irene Rempel.
Survivors include two sons, John and Lila Bartel of Topeka and Robert and Sharon Bartel of McPherson; daughter, Mary and Bill Johnson of Newton; sister, Luetta LaRoe of Wichita; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday morning at Trinity Mennonite Church with Pastor Orlan Koehn officiating.
Burial was in Johannestal Cemetery, rural Hillsboro.
Memorial funds have been established with the church or Lions Club.
