Rain forces cancellations on track, diamonds, courts
The weekend's continuous rains have forced a cancellation of many Trojan athletic activities.
The Trojan baseball team's May 3 rematch in Marion against the Warriors was canceled with no make-up date scheduled.
Both the Trojans' baseball and softball teams wrapped up the regular season Tuesday in Hillsboro against Haven.
The baseball team then begin play Monday in Hoisington for regional action with times and opponents not yet determined. The tournament will conclude Thursday.
Weather forced Hillsboro's regular-season meeting with the Halstead Dragons to be canceled, but the Dragons are in the Hoisington regional.
Haven and Lyons, who the Trojans swept, along with the hosting Cardinals are the other competing schools.
The Lady Trojan softball team once again will have to deal with perennial nuisance Southeast of Saline, competing at the SES regional in Gypsum.
Southeast of Saline has eliminated Hillsboro eight out of the last nine seasons the softball program has been in existence at Hillsboro.
The Trojans swept Hesston, Lyons, Marion, and Collegiate, but have yet to face White City-Herington, or the hosting Lady Trojans.
The Trojans' golf team was set to close out the regular season Monday, but rainfall in Hoisington forced the MCAA meet to be rescheduled for either Thursday or Friday at 3 p.m.
The site has yet to be determined with Hoisington unable to host after Monday.
Hillsboro's track team opens the post-season Friday with the MCAA meet at Nickerson, also slated at 3 p.m.
