Randy and Jan Steinert honored by ESU

Randall "Randy" Steinert, the son of Agnes Steinert of Hillsboro and the late Woody Steinert, and his wife Jan of Wichita were honored by Emporia State University on Feb. 12. At an awards dinner, they received the University Service Citation for their commitment to and volunteerism at ESU.

The University Service Citation was started in 1980 by the ESU Alumni Association to recognize rare, unusual, and significant service to ESU. Award winners are moved to service by a deep concern for and loyalty to the university and their services are usually performed without expecting compensation.

As ESU graduates and Wichita business leaders, Randy and Jan (Biles) Steinert often share their expertise with the ESU School of Business and serve on the advisory councils for the department of accounting and computer information systems.

Randy is completing his second term as chapter president of the South Central Alumni Chapter and both Steinerts are very active members of that organization. Randy has served two terms as a member of the ESU Alumni Association Board of Directors. He also established ESU's presence at the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson while president of the Alumni Association.

An active member of the ESU Foundation Board of Trustees since 2000, Jan currently serves on the board finance committee. Randy was named a trustee in 2004.

ESU students benefit from the Steinerts' continued support. The Randall and Jan Steinert Business Scholarship Fund provides financial help to students majoring in accounting and computer information systems. The Steinerts are also Pacesetters for the Presidential Academic Awards scholarship program.

Randy Steinert is a 1979 school of business graduate who is the senior vice president and auditor at Emprise Bank. Jan (Biles) Steinert, a 1980 school of business graduate, is the senior manager of information systems at The Boeing Company, Wichita Division.
