Rex Taylor

Rex R. Taylor, 82, of Topeka died July 9, 2003, at Midland Hospice House.

Born May 31, 1921, in Abilene, he was the son of Leslie and Maye (Ault) Taylor. He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School and a graduate of Kansas State University in 1943 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served from 1944-1946.

On Feb. 24, 1945, he married Phyllis Brooks in Corpus Christi, Texas. She survives.

He retired as an engineer for KP&L after 40 years in 1986. He was a member of First Christian Church where he served as an elder and taught youth Sunday School classes for 50 years.

He was a life member of the K-State Alumni Association and a Wildcat fan.

Survivors include his wife; son, David R. Taylor of Kansas City, Mo.; daughter, Lorrie Lloyd of Clay Center; sisters, Elaine Fast of Colorado Springs, Colo., Phyllis McNeiley of Lenexa, Virginia Carl of Berthoud, Colo.; and four grandchildren.

Cremation is planned. A memorial service was held Monday at First Christian Church. Private inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
