Robert H. Wells

Robert H. Wells, 71, of Lehigh died May 14, 2003, at Memorial Hospital in McPherson.

Born June 13, 1931, at Cherokee, Okla., he was the son of Howard and Molly Belle (Finner) Wells.

On Dec. 24, 1950, at rural Grant County, Okla., she married Margaret Currier. She survives of the home.

The couple has lived in Lehigh since 1997 after moving from Lamont, Okla.

He worked as a teacher, coach, principal, and superintendent of schools at various public schools in Kansas.

He was a member of the Logan Masonic Lodge, ISIS Shrine in Salina, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Hillsboro United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Trevor Wells.

Survivors include his wife of the home; sons, Steve and wife Lana Wells of Springfield, Neb., Jim and wife Celia Wells of Great Bend, and Jeff and wife Cindy Wells of Chapman; daughters, Lynn and husband Steve Hilgers of McPherson and Lori and husband Ed Feldkamp of Manhattan; brother, Richard Wells of Clearwater; sister, Mary Deardorff of Mulvane; 10 grandchildren; one great grandchild; and four step-grandchildren.

Services were held Monday at the Hillsboro United Methodist Church with Rev. R. Laney Kuhn officiating. Burial was at McPherson Cemetery. Memorials have been established with the church.
