Robert Potocnik Jr.

Robert A. Potocnik Jr., 41, of Herington, died Sept. 17, 2005, at Enid, Okla.

Born Feb. 14, 1964, at Marion, he was the son of Robert A. and Juanita "Janie" (Gonzales) Potocnik Sr.

He was a graduate of Centre High School and attended McPherson College and Pittsburg State University.

On March 9, 1990, he married Marnie Bina at Abilene.

He was an engineer and conductor for the Union Pacific Railroad, Herington Division.

He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus of Herington and the United Transportation Union.

He was preceded in death by his father, who died in 1996.

Survivors include his wife, Marnie; son, Tyler of Herington; mother and stepfather, Janie and Glenn Heitfield of Lost Springs; four sisters, Julie Newbury of Glenpool, Okla., Cindy Byrd and Barbara Hart, both of Herington, and Becky Smith of Alliance, Neb.; and two brothers, Paul Potocnik of Lincolnville and Troy Heitfield of Herington.

The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) at St. John's Catholic Church, Herington.

Christian Mass will be said at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. Mark Wesely officiating.

Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington.

Memorial funds may be sent to the church or to the donor's choice in Robert's memory.
