On June 9, Gene and Beryl Steiner left for England taking their 10-year-old granddaughter, Victoria Steiner from Marion, with them. In New Jersey, Roy Steiner joined them going to England. When they arrived in London, their grandson from Marion, Eric Steiner, met them. Eric was with a tour group from Marion High School. The group visited Ireland, Wales, and London. The rest of the Marion group went to Paris but Eric left for home. Gene and Beryl arrived home on June 18.
Duane and Shirley Hamm attended a reunion over the weekend with Shirley's brothers and sisters and families at Salt Plaines Lake at Jet, Okla. There were approximately 40 family there. Norma Ballard from Topeka arrived at the Hamm's on Wednesday evening and accompanied them to the reunion.
On Friday evening, Darlene Schmidt was among about 25 ladies who had a surprise birthday party for Norma Klemm of Hillsboro.
Leroy Schmidt from Oahu Island spent about a month in the area visiting his parents, Malvin and Darlene Schmidt, and other family. He came especially to attend his son's wedding.
On Saturday, Malvin and Darlene Schmidt, Leroy Schmidt and Wilma Schmidt attended the wedding of Leroy's son, Jeremy Schmidt and Abby Kornelson at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in McPherson.
Malvina Heinrichs, Brittany and Eric from Broken Arrow, Okla., spent the weekend with Malvin and Darlene and also attended the wedding on Saturday.
Norman and Dot Ens spent a day with their daughter and family, Joni and Terry Ens, at Maize. On Saturday evening, they visited their son, Randy Ensz, in Hillsboro.
Heath and Cara Marrs and Oliver and Marcella Mohn were Thursday evening guests for a cookout at the home of Paul and Arlene Pankratz. Heath and Cara are moving to Hays where Heath will be teaching at Fort Hays State University.
Virginia Fadenrecht, Lois Nuss, Doris David, Mary Lancaster, and Arlene Pankratz were honored guests at a brunch at Klose & Kozy Friday morning in honor of their May or June birthdays. Others present were Jane Miller, Sheila Nuss, Pearl Koch, Shirley Hamm, Valorie Hampton, Betty Meier, Frances Unruh, Marcella Mohn, Carol Ollenburger, and Edie Ollenburger, all of Hillsboro and Marilyn Geis of Marion.
