Round the Town: Church service honors Wiebes 50th years ago

On Sunday Don and Connie Isaac, Raymond Wiebe and David Wiebe all attended church services at the Ebenezer Baptist Church near Abilene where John Wiebe is pastor. The John Wiebe children and grandchildren presented the morning worship service of preaching and song in honor of the John Wiebes' 50th wedding anniversary. The worship service followed by a noon meal. Many family members and friends were present.

Jason and Rachel Mohn and family spent a few days in Tampa, Fla., visiting their grandparents, Douglas and Betty Clark. Rachel's brother and wife, Russell and Claire Clark from Washington, D.C., joined them at their grandparents' home.

Wilbur and Florence Hett attended funeral services on Saturday for Clayton Riffel at the Lutheran Church in Abilene.

Recently Bonnie Fast flew to her son and his wife and family's home in Denver. Bonnie accompanied them to Taos, N.M., for a Fast family reunion.

Paul and Arlene Pankratz accompanied Ken Pankratz of Durham Monday to the home of David and Sherilyn Kadel, rural Randall. The Kadels have recently moved, and the Pankratzes helped with the unpacking.

Neva Fast from California was also at the reunion, and she returned with her mother and is spending the summer with her. The past weekend they drove to Denver and attended the wedding of Betty's granddaughter Erica Fast and Justin Fulton on Sunday.

Bill and Betty Meier were Fourth of July supper guests of Socco and Willabeth Gonzales in Newton.

Eleanor Jost and her mother Mary Seibel visited Frances Quintana Thursday in Emporia.

Saturday evening Lowell and Eleanor Jost met Don and Susan Jantz of Abilene and Ron and Tina Palmer from Arizona in Fredonia, and they had dinner together.
