Round the town: Elma Klein celebrates 85th years ago

Elma Klein celebrated her 85th birthday July 20 at First Baptist Church in Durham. The celebration was hosted by her children: Carol and Wayne, Don and Sharon, and Darold and Bev, assisted by her grandchildren. Buster the Clown made animals from balloons, which was enjoyed by the guests.

Thursday, Verden and Pauline Harms visited Dean Ollenburger at the Newton Hospital.

Paul and Heather Smith and children from Overland Park were weekend guests at the Verden Harms. They also visited with Hannah Ollenburger.

Wilbur and Mildred Hanneman took Oliver and Frances Unruh to the Pizza Hut Friday evening to celebrate Oliver's birthday.

Willabeth Gonzales of Newton and Regan Rowe of Council Grove visited at the Bill Meiers on Friday.

On Friday, Virgil and Jean Oblander went to Oakley where they attended funeral services for Virgil's cousin Lester Herdt.

Virgil and Jean Oblander spent the weekend in Oneil, Neb., where they visited Pastor and Mrs. Ryding and Liz Ryding.

Duane and Shirley Hamm spent Saturday with Shirley's sister, Eileen Greikspoor, in Wichita. Other family there were Norma Ballard of Topeka, Bob and Dorothy Gates from LaVern, Okla., and Venita Waggoner of Sedgwick.

Doris David, Elma Klein, Mary Lancaster and Arlene Pankratz were honored for their June or July birthdays at a noon luncheon at Olde Towne on Friday. Others there were Marcella Mohn, Donna Diener, Frances Unruh, Carol Ollenburger, Edie Ollenburger, Pearl Koch, Doris David, Betty Meier, Virginia Fadenrecht, Jane Miller, Shilrey Hamm, and Marilyn Geis.

Oliver and Frances Unruh accompanied Wilbur and Mildred Hanneman to Wichita Friday and had supper with Gloria Hanneman. They also visited at the home of Delbert and Becky Hanneman and saw the Hanneman's new great grandson, Braden Rucker, infant son of Tyson and Faith Rucker.

The Gaylord Hamms of Durham and Oliver Mohns and Paul Pankratzes of Hillsboro had lunch Sunday at the Tampa Café with their cousins Frances Schattak of Marion and Eldon Schwemmer from El Dorado. In the afternoon they all attended the birthday celebration for their cousin Elma Klein of Hillsboro at the Durham Baptist Church fellowship hall.
