Round the Town: Heins host birthday dinner

Leonard and Hazel Hein hosted a dinner Sunday in honor of family birthdays. Those attending were Kevin and Vicki Hein and John of Durham, Todd and Jayleen Hein and Andrew Hein of Tampa, Tony and Brandi Hein, Henry and Grace of Newton, and Monica Hein of Lawrence. They celebrated the birthdays of Monica, Andrew, Henry, Todd, and Hazel.

Russel and Kara Haug of Kechi were Friday supper guests of their grandparents, Oliver and Marcella Mohn.

Many from the area attended funeral services Saturday for Mary Helen Becker at the Baptist church in Durham. Mary Helen was a lifelong resident of rural Durham. Sympathy is extended to the family.

Valorie Hampton spent Sunday with her mother, Lois Sklenar at Tampa.

Wayne and Veronica Koch of Wichita were Friday supper guests of Pearl Koch. Donna Dunnick of Pryor, Okla., and Rachel Epp of Hillsboro visited Pearl Sunday afternoon.

Gene and Beryl Steiner attended the 2008 wheelchair crowning ceremony Sunday at the Holiday Inn in Topeka. Their granddaughter, Amanda Steiner, daughter of Perry and Barb Steiner of Marion, was crowned Ms. Wheelchair Kansas. Amanda is a KU student. In July she will attend the national wheelchair conference at Washington, D.C. We congratulate her.

Paul and Arlene Pankratz were recent visitors at the Oliver Mohn home and the Tim Diener home.

Sympathy is extended to Duwane and Jane Miller at the death of Jane's sister, Leona Goertz of Wichita. Memorial services were held at Wichita and burial was at Haven of Rest Cemetery, rural Hillsboro.
