Round the Town: Koehn family leaves for mission work

Greg and Charlene Thiessen, Dallas and Whitney of McPherson Tim and Cherie Goossen and Ty and Myron Hamm, Chris and Madison of Hillsboro took ice cream and cake to the home of Duane and Shirley Hamm for Duane's birthday on Sunday afternoon. They were also supper guests of the Hamms.
Sunday supper guests at the home of Orval and Rosella Suderman were Mr. and Mrs. Reno Penner and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Delk of Hillsboro and Willard Hett and Alberta Pritz of Marion.
Mrs. Elgin Bartel was the guest of honor at a birthday dinner Sunday at the home of Tyler and Diane Ewert in Wichita. Other guests were her husband Elgin, the Milford Klaassen family and Justine Klaassen of Hillsboro and Ron and Loretta Paxton of Wichita.
The seniors of the Church of God in Christ Mennonite Church of rural Hillsboro had an appreciation carry-in supper for Minister Gordon Koehn and his wife Doris at the home of James and Lillian Hiebert rural Hillsboro on Friday evening.
The Koehns will be going to Columbia, Mo., for a year of mission work. Others there were Clara and Alma Toews; Abe and Louise Ensz; Orlan and Annabel Becker; Marvin and Pearl Ensz; Jonas and Myrtle Giesbrecht; Melvin and Joan Litweller all of Hillsboro; Gerald and Eva Davis of Lehigh; and Perry and Irene Ratzloff of Marion.
Marvin Ensz rural Hillsboro who had knee surgery in December is reported to be doing well.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hein attended the Native Sons and Daughters annual banquet on Jan. 25 in Topeka.
Oliver and Frances Unruh of Hillsboro spent from Monday to Thursday in Oklahoma City visiting their daughter, Beverly Elliott. They celebrated Beverly's 30th birthday while there.
David and Sherilyn Kadel of Randall, Ken Pankratz of Durham and Tim, Donna and Marissa Diener of Hillsboro were guests for a birthday dinner on Sunday for Paul's Jan. 31 birthday at the Paul Pankratzes.
