Round the Town: Warkentins hold reunion

The descendants of Gerhard and Helena Warkentin met at the Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church at noon on July 6 for a potluck lunch and family reunion. The afternoon was spent reminiscing. The families thank Robert Warkentin and those who helped organize the event.
Special recognition was given to the oldest living Warkentin descendants: Adeline Dixon of Goessel, Ike and Helen Thiessen of Lehigh; Ruth Wenger, Mary Thiessen and Elma Warkentin all of Hillsboro.
Out-of-town cousins and their families attending the reunion included: Paul and Darlene Wiens and Emery and Donna Wiens of Topeka; Loren and Jeanenne Koslowsky of Mesa, Ariz.; Cecil Wenger of Herington; J.D. and Nancy Unruh of Wichita; Diane Litwiller and Tim of Glendale, Ariz.; Renee Hein and children of Lincoln, Neb.; Kerry and Becky Vogt and girls of Hesston; Jerry and Enid Cady of Marion; Bob and Coleen Warkentin, Luke Warkentin, and Rebecca Warkentin of Salina; Vern and Janice Winter of McPherson; Joan Schmidt of Buhler; Karen and Bryce York of Shawnee Mission; Paul and Ellamae Thiessen of Wichita.
Local families from Hillsboro attending the reunion were Jim and Joyce Thiessen, Arlene Schale, Steve and Shelly Schale and girls, Bill and Janet Hein, Ron Warkentin, Gerald and Joyce Kessler, Lynden and Dorie Thiessen and family.
Elmer and Ann Bartel of Durham visited with Hannah Ollenburger Monday afternoon.
Larry and Bonnie Winter from Silver Lake spent some time over the weekend with their parents Edwin and Alice Winter.
Lowell and Eleanor Jost, Amber Jost and Logan, and Mary Seibel attended the 50th wedding anniversary open house for the Elmer Seibels in Wichita on June 29.
Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Mohn spent the 4th of July weekend with the Bob Haug family in Jetmore.
