RV rally set to roll into town
Don't be surprised when 25 homes on wheels roll into Hillsboro next weekend.
A national RV organization has chosen the Marion Reservoir as the spot for a regional rally. The group, called the "No-Tow Bago RV Club," was scheduled to roll into Cottonwood point yesterday.
One of the group's members, Darryld Loewen, is a Hillsboro native. Now living in Las Cruces, N.M., Loewen has been a main organizer of the event.
The club has been in existence for three years and has approximately 300 members from across the country, Loewen said.
The No-Tow Bago name comes from the style of RVs the group drives. They're smaller vehicles that don't tow cars — hence, the "No-Tow." They're made by Winnebago.
This style of RV can be parked in a regular parking space, Loewen said.
On Saturday, the group of around 50 people will head into Hillsboro to take in some local points of interest, including the Adobe House. For their noon lunch on Saturday, they're stopping at Olde Town Restaurant on Main.
The No-Tow Bago club has been working with the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce to prepare for the event.
