Sam Schmidt
Sam Schmidt, 94, died July 6, 2007, at his home in Goessel.
Born Aug. 12, 1912, in Marion County, he was the son of J.R.F. and Elizabeth (Franz) Schmidt.
On Oct. 26, 1940, he married Dora Schroeder at Goessel.
He was a dairy and crop farmer and a member of Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, Goessel.
He was preceded in death by one grandchild; three brothers, Dan, Menno, and Jake Schmidt; and three sisters, Frieda Schmidt, Tina Janzen, and Marie Pankratz.
Survivors include his wife, Dora of Goessel; son, Larry Schmidt of Shawnee; two daughters, Shirley Szabo of New Britain, Conn., and Karen Monroe of Emporia; and two sisters, Martha Buller and Louisa Krehbiel; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.
A memorial service was this morning (Wednesday) at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church with Pastor Linda Ewert and Pastor Lee Suderman officiating.
Burial was in Alexanderwohl Mennonite Cemetery.
