Staff writer

Unified School District 410 approved the purchase Feb. 13 of two 24-passenger buses and a mid-sized or smaller used car.

The decision was made by the board of education at its regular monthly meeting. The buses will be purchased from Hillsboro Ford at a total cost of $91,958. The car will be purchased from Wrights Motors at a cost not to exceed $10,000.

The board approved the renewal of administrative contracts for two years for HMS principal Corey Burton, athletic director Max Heinrichs, HHS principal Dale Honeck, and HES principal Evan Yoder.

The board also approved a supplemental contract for Holly Lindsay to serve as assistant high school softball coach.

Superintendent Gordon Mohn reported on local purchases, 2006-2007 enrollment projections, and district issues of closing the achievement gap, community child-care, and facilities improvement.

Mohn was authorized to contact three architectural firms to arrange interviews for the purpose of reviewing long-term facility needs of the district.

The board went into executive session to discuss the acquisition of real property and matters relating to personnel.

The next regularly scheduled board of education meeting will be at 7 p.m., March 13.
