Season opens for Tabor College cross country
Both Tabor College men and women's cross country teams placed eighth Saturday at the Baker University Maple Leaf Invitational. More than 100 racers competed in the event.
Heidi Schmidt paced the Tabor women with a 45th place finish at 14 minutes, 14 seconds.
Two other runners, Bridgette Stevens (47th) and Amber Weins (48th) finished in the top-50 of the 3200-meter race.
In the 5K boys' race Jeff Anenson led the way for Tabor with a 51st-place finish at 18:41. Kyle Larson was the next Bluejay finisher in 52nd-place after a time of 18:45.
"This meet was a good start to our season," head coach Karol Hunt said. "We have only been working out as a team for a week and a half so we know we have a long way to go to reach our potential and goals."
