Helen Seibel, the oldest subscriber to the Hillsboro Star-Journal, celebrated her 103rd birthday Jan. 23 with a well-deserved party in her honor. Many guests enjoyed wishing Helen a very happy birthday. Helen's family shared cake and other goodies.
This past Monday and Tuesday were art appreciation days at Park Home 4 and 5, and we learned about the French painter, Monet, and his special style of painting.
Residents were able to complete a project using this style of painting. The art medium we used this week was chalk. We enjoyed making a lovely background for water lilies fashioned from tissue.
Tuesday evening we enjoyed hearing the Gospel Messengers. We thank them for their continued faithfulness.
Pastor Randy Smith brought us the Wednesday afternoon Bible class. Everyone enjoyed chocolate ice cream after the class. Residents were sorry to hear it was his last week with us. Pastor Randy will be back again in May.
Residents also enjoyed starting a new book about a family with five girls that moved from Kansas City to Beloit in the 1800s. We plan to follow the family as they make a new home in an area that is different.
Hymn sing was held Thursday morning. A large group enjoyed singing some of their favorite hymns. Dr. George Ens entertained us with music in the afternoon. Later, Celia Gross brought us organ music.
We have especially enjoyed all the visitors who have come to Parkside this past week.
