Senior Scribbles: Flu shots available Oct. 30 years ago

The Hillsboro Senior Center will take appointments for flu shots to be given at the center on Wednesday, Oct. 30. The hospital is sponsoring this event, which begins at 10 a.m.
Appointments will be given every 15 minutes. Call for more information.
Today at noon at the Marion Senior Center, the annual meeting of the Senior Citizens of Marion County banquet will be held to celebrate aging services and senior citizen groups of this area.
Since the 1960s, Marion County has been a leader in providing senior services and activities.
At 2:30 p.m. on Friday, the senior center will host a men's coffee — come for goodies, games, and conversation.
Betty McDermott, R.N., of Herington will present a program after lunch on Wednesday, Oct. 23. "An Ounce of Prevention" is the title of her presentation.
"Law Day" in Marion County will be observed at the courthouse on Thursday, Oct. 24. Legal issues pertinent to seniors will be discusses. A group from our center will attend — call for more information. A video, "The Best Ways to Stay Healthy," will be shown after lunch at the center that day.
Those who volunteered their time at the senior center last week were: kitchen — Gladys Jantz, Velda Hiebert, Irma Groening, Irma Koop, Nellie Jost, Elaine Leppke, Erma Pankratz, Mildred Jantz, and Edna Spinks; meal drivers — Lonn Richards, Paul Ediger, and Elgin Bartel; and FISH transportation — Lydia Pankratz, Marie Jost, and Gladys Schmidt.
