Senior Soundings
The covered dish lunch is planned for March 17, beginning with the senior center post office at 11 a.m. and Dr. Zafar at 11:15, help for hearing patients. Lunch is served at noon, and the program will be presented by the Hillsboro Elementary School and physical education teacher Becky Carlson. They will demonstrate Bal-A-Vis-x, an exercise program which stresses auditory, balance, and visual senses.
Commodities will be distributed at the senior center today. This is a change from the calendar. Peas, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, refried beans, peaches, salmon, dried plums, trail mix, pudding cups, and raisins will be available under government guidelines.
A video, "Kansas Immigrants," will be shown at the center after the meal today. The Mennonites and their influence on Kansas are featured in this presentation.
On Tuesday, a sing-along will precede the Irish meal at the senior center. Irish songs will be featured beginning at 11:30.
Those who volunteered their time at the senior center last week included: Kitchen — Nellie Jost, Phyllis Neuenschwander, Irma Koop, Irma Groening, Ethelda Lemon, Kim Friesen, Frieda Birkle, Mariann Unruh, and Fern Unruh; Meal delivery — Pearl Hadley, Harold Pankratz, Ray Matz, Wilbur Hanneman, Bud Buller, and Jim Brennan; FISH transportation — Kermit Ratzlaff and Albert Fadenrecht.
