Senior Soundings: January birthdays celebrated

John Ewert, Marvin Groening, Martha Schroeder, Esther Prieb, Elmer Wall, Ron Freeman, Jean Herbel, Frieda Birkle, Alene Engel, and Betty Gayle were honored at the January birthday party at the senior center. A video, "The Amish — not to Be Modern" provided the program following the noon meal.
Exercise classes continue at 9 a.m. on Mondays and Thursdays at the center. Foot care is scheduled at 9:45 a.m. for Feb. 3 and Feb. 10 at the center.
Tax help will begin on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. No appointment is necessary.
"Five Minutes on Cholesterol" is aq video to be shown after lunch on Feb. 4 at the center.
Cathy Fish, the Hillsboro Public librarian, will speak to the group after the meal on Feb. 6. She will preview some books she has brought from the library.
Those who volunteered their time at the senior center last week included: Kitchen — Irma Koop, Irma Groening, Nellie Jost, Jean Herbel, Mildred Harding, Arlene Stika, Mariann Unruh, and Velda Hiebert; meal drivers — John Vogt and Jim Brennan; and FISH transportation — Ray Matz and Lydia Pankratz.
