The Goessel High School golf team traveled to Pretty Prairie Monday for 1A regional golf. The Bluebirds shot a team score of 421 to finish in sixth place as a team. However, it wasn't good enough to qualify for state.

Senior Kent Peters led the team with a score of 96, and Kelcy Voth shot 102.

"Coming into today's competition, I thought both of these seniors had an outside chance to qualify individually for state," said coach Troy Kemling.

Tyler Huntley shot a 112, Chris Voth improved to 113, Jeremy Voth scored 131, and Dustin Spoonemore shot 132.

The top ten individuals and top two teams from regionals all qualify for state. Pretty Prairie took first in team competition at the event, and Hutchinson Trinity took second.

At the Heart of America league meet on May 13, Goessel finished in eighth place ahead of Remington, Inman, and Little River. At this meet the seniors finished up front, as Peters led the team with a strong back nine to finish at 92. K. Voth's 95 tied with Huntley's 95. Spoonemore shot his best score of the season with 99, J. Voth had 109, and C. Voth had 118.

Hutchinson's Central Christian won the team event, with Hutch Trinity taking second and Pretty Prairie taking third.
