Sheriff's officers seize large quantity of marijuana

As a result of an investigation led by Sergeant Jeff Soyez of the Marion County Sheriff's Office, a marijuana sales operation in Hillsboro has been shut down and two people arrested.

Sergeant Soyez developed information used to obtain a search warrant for a residence at 207 N. Lincoln, Hillsboro at 11:04 p.m. Oct. 29.

A large quantity of marijuana packaged for sales was seized. Two people were arrested and a third will be charged in connection with the sales operation.

Arrested were Christian Steele Petersen, 22, 207 N. Lincoln, Hillsboro for possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of marijuana, and other charges that are pending. Also arrested was a 17-year-old female who was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Marion County sheriff's officers involved in the search were Sheriff Lee Becker, Undersheriff Randal Brazil, Sergeant Soyez, and Deputy Josh Whitwell.

"This will have a significant impact on the drug traffic in Hillsboro," Becker said.
