Softball: Trojans down Hesston
With just a few games left in the season, the Hillsboro High School softball team is ending the school year in good form.
That was evident on April 30, as the Trojans traveled to Hesston and demolished the hosting Swathers in two games, 15-0, 6-3.
In game one of the doubleheader, the Lady Trojans made short work of the Swathers, thanks to a one-hitter by pitcher Holly Lindsay. Lindsay allowed no walks and no runs while striking out five batters in five innings.
Five Trojan players had RBIs in the game: Emily Ratzlaff, Amy Duerksen, Danielle Goossen, Emily Donahue, and Julie Wall with two.
In game two, the score was a tad closer, but the Trojans still came away with a 6-3 win. Duerksen had the sole RBI in the game.
Lindsay pitched for most of the game, surrendering just one hit while striking out six. After Lindsay's exit, pitcher Marissa Diener came in for a few innings, but she allowed two hits and three earned runs during her time on the mound.
Hillsboro hosts 3A regional action on Monday and Tuesday. Joining HHS in the Hillsboro regional will be Marion, Hesston, Lyons, and Southeast of Saline.
