Southwestern netters cool off Lady Bluejays

Tabor ends regular

season co-KCAC champions

The regular season didn't quite turn out the way the Lady Bluejays had hoped.

Gunning for a fourth-unprecedented KCAC title, Tabor hit a pothole Thursday in the regular season finale at Winfield against Southwestern.

The Lady Builders stunned the Bluejays, forcing them to share their fourth regular season title with the Ottawa Lady Braves and snapping a 15-game winning streak.

The Southwestern upset erases home court advantage for Tabor unless the Braves tumble in the playoffs. Should Ottawa and the Bluejays meet in post-season, Tabor will travel.

Southwestern had the upper hand Saturday.

Tabor (19-11, 15-3 KCAC) tumbled the first game, 30-26 before winning the next two, 30-19, and 30-23, respectively.

The Builders forced a fifth game with a 30-21 in the fourth.

The Bluejays ended up in a split with Southwestern hanging on for a 15-13 victory.

Tabor clinched at least a tie for the league title Tuesday night in Hillsboro against the Bethany Lady Swedes.

The Bluejays rolled to their 14th straight victory, making short work of the Swedes with 30-20, 30-17, and 30-23 wins.

Tabor, as a result of a second-seed, will host either Bethel or Kansas Wesleyan tonight at 7 p.m.

Should Ottawa prevail against either McPherson or Sterling the championship game will be played in Ottawa at 7 p.m. Saturday.
