Special Olympics basketball tournament is Saturday
Tabor College in cooperation with the Hilslboro Kiwanis will host a basketball tournament for Special Olympics. Games will be played on the Tabor campus main gymnasium as well as the student activity center. Tournament play begins at 8 a.m. and concludes at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Teams from four counties will participate. Divisions are made up of teams with similar playing abilities. This tournament provides teams with game experience before they compete at the state tournament held in March at Hays.
"It is due to the actions of community groups which support events like this that Special Olympics is able to offer the chance for success to people who are often left out of the mainstream of life," said spokesperson Deborah Collier. "The Hillsboro community has reason to be proud of this event."
Tabor College and the Kiwanis have sponsored this tournament for more 20 years.
