Students inducted into National Honor Society

Eleven Hillsboro High School students were inducted Monday into the Trojan Chapter of the National Honor Society. The annual candle-lit ceremony was conducted at the Hillsboro Memorial Park Scout House.

Students inducted were senior Grant Schneider; juniors, Kelsey Bartel, Ben Gottsch, Abi Humber, Cassie Kroeker, David Loewen, Nicholas Mueller, Heidi Schroeder, Clay Shewey, Jet Skiles, and David Winter.

To be eligible for membership, students must be juniors or seniors and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.70. Candidates then are evaluated on the high standards of character, leadership, and service.

Leadership qualities are based upon a student's participation and involvement in school activities, organizations, and class offices. Service qualities are based on a student's involvement in community and school service projects in which participation is voluntary with no recompense. Character is measured in terms of integrity, behavior, ethics, and cooperation with other students, faculty, and community members.

Other active members of the local chapter are Chelsea Bebermeyer, Matthew Brown, Spencer Brown, Bobbi Jo Carlson, Amanda Faber, Courtney Fast, Ben Heyen, Meghan Jost, Lauren Just, Jenesa Klose, Jessica Klose, Amber Loewen, Julia Loewen, Maria Loewen, Jandi Nikkel, Mark Prieb, Caitlin Reimer, Audrey Weinbrenner, and Anna Woelk. Terry Bebermeyer is the adviser for the local chapter.
