Summer drama to present melodrama

Hillsboro summer drama camp will present "The Saga of Sagebrush Sal," at 7 p.m. Friday at Hillsboro High School auditorium.

The melodrama, which is free to the public, is the story of Sagebrush Sal. Sal takes over the busiest establishment in town, the Bloody Turnip Saloon.

The drama camp, sponsored by Hillsboro Arts and Crafts Association, teaches the art of stagecraft to first through eighth graders. There are 28 participants this summer.

Cast includes Andrea Bartel, Heather Goldsby, Jerrod Rogers, Dakota Peterson, Justin Houser, Emma Heyen, Elise Heyen, Hayley Pankratz, Amy Bartel, Zach Carey, Clara Loewen, Krista Reimer, Erika Just, Tena Loewen, Rhonda Rogers, Bailey Kaufman, Ashley Bartel, Josh Wiebe, Rachel Schneider, Shian Halstead, Hayley Schraeder, Claire Heyen, Tessa Loewen, Dermot Morey, Madison Klein, Tatum Miller, Tessa Isaac, and Rebecca Kaufman.

The camp is directed by Lynn Just and Terry Bebermeyer. Sponsors also include the Kansas Arts Commission and the National Endowments for the Arts.
