Summer reading program begins at library
"Laugh it up @ the library" is the theme of this year's Goessel Public Library summer reading program.
Join the library for silly stories, jokes, games, and humor of all kinds in the music, books, and other materials found there. Programs are available for children in preschool through eighth grade.
Pre-readers are invited to join the program with a parent or other helper who will read to them and help keep their reading chart. The rest of the regular participants can read any books they choose and keep track of the titles. There will be prizes awarded as reading goals are met.
Books read during June and July can be counted toward reading goals. Pick up your record sheet after May 31.
"Laugh it up" storytime will be held each Wednesday from June 11 to July 18 for preschoolers through fifth graders. Preschool story time is at 9 a.m., K-2 is at 10 a.m., and third through fifth is at 11 a.m. Division are based on completed school years.
This year we are going to extend the summer reading program, called "LOL" to grades six through eight. "Laugh out loud" will meet Friday mornings at 10.
As the library is creating its LOL programming, workers would appreciate advice, so sixth through eighth graders are invited to also be a part of the TAG (tweens and teens) advisory group. The TAG will help plan LOL activities and share ideas to make the library their place to come for books. The first TAG meeting is set for June 13 at 9 a.m.
All programs are free, but each student should pre-enroll. For more information, contact Goessel librarian Laura Dailey at 367-8440.
