Susan J. Dalke
Susan Jean Dalke, 53, of Hillsboro, died June 24, 2003, at Hillsboro Community Medical Center in Hillsboro.
Born on June 7, 1950, in Herington, she was the daughter of Arnold and Annabelle (Carter) Bliss. She was a lifetime resident of Hillsboro. She was a member of Hillsboro United Methodist Church and was baptized in 1954.
She was a 1968 graduate of Hillsboro High School and attended business college in Wichita.
On March 7, 1970, she married James B. Dalke at Hillsboro United Methodist Church.
She was an insurance agent at Truck Insurance Mart in Galva. She was a member of the Hillsboro Legion Auxiliary for 32 years, serving on numerous board positions. She taught Wednesday night church and Sunday School classes.
She enjoyed sports, camping, shopping, dances, and playing bingo.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1997.
Survivors include her husband; son, Benjamin J. Dalke of Hillsboro; daughter, Adrianna Meder and husband Craig of Olathe; and mother, Annabelle Bliss of Hillsboro.
Services were held Saturday at Hillsboro United Methodist Church with Pastor Gaylord Goertzen officiating. Burial was at Haven of Rest Cemetery in rural Hillsboro.
Musicians were Kathy Decker, organist, and Rod Koons, vocalist. Wayne Friesen gave a life tribute.
Casket bearers were Bob Jones, Marc Schroeder, Chuck McLinden, Steve Miller, Justin Unruh, and Josh Plenert.
Honorary casket bearers were Dustin Dalke, Matt Dalke, Mark Dalke, Dale Dalke, Darrell Dalke, and John O. Dalke.
Memorial funds have been established with Hillsboro American Legion Post 366 baseball program and Hillsboro United Methodist Church.
