Swim team takes second at Peabody
The Hillsboro swim team will take two first-place finishes heading into league competition after taking second place at the Peabody meet last Saturday.
Peabody racked up 685 points at the contest, while Hillsboro gained 605 and Herington got 204.
Peabody took advantage of a large team, using depth to their advantage as they dominated the relays, according to head coach Mary K. Humber.
"When you have the ability to enter two relay teams in 14 out of 20 events, you are really going to pick up some points," Humber said. "Peabody swam really well."
"Our team had some difficulty with disqualifications. Stroke judging was tough, but I think our swimmers learned some good lessons. Hopefully we can correct the mistakes by this weekend."
The Peabody meet was the team's last regular-season meet. Next week, the team travels to Council Grove for league competition, where nine teams will be competing.
