Tabor announces addition to football coaching staff

Dustin Miller will make the transition from assistant head football coach and offensive coordinator at Bethany College to the same position at neighboring Tabor College effective immediately, according to athletic director Don Brubacher.

Miller will also serve as an instructor in the physical education program.

Miller, who grew up in Dwight, is a graduate of Council Grove High School and Bethany College.

He was named 2002 AFLAC National Assistant Coach of the Year and first worked with head coach Mike Gardner at Bethel College. Miller coached quarterbacks, wide receivers and tight ends at Bethel from 1995 to 1998. He also coached high school football at St. Marys.

At Bethany, Miller was responsible for game planning and play calling, recruiting and the "Hotline to Victory" football camp. He was also a pro scout liaison.

In the five seasons he spent at Bethany, he helped coach the Swedes to a 34-13 record and two KCAC championship titles. His offense averaged more than 400 yards and 34 points per game, and for three of the past five seasons, was ranked in the top six in the nation in passing.

"I'm pleased to be able to work with Coach Gardner again," Miller said. "Everything I've seen about Tabor College is great. I'm happy to be here."

Miller, who is looking for a place to live in Hillsboro, will begin his teaching assignments after spring break

"We are confident Dustin will be an outstanding addition to the Tabor football program, the Physical Education program and the Tabor campus in general," said Brubacher.
