Tabor announces cast list for upcoming play

Cast members for upcoming performances of "You Can't Take It With You" have been announced at Tabor College, according to Judy Harder, associate professor of communications and drama.

Four performances will be given during the Homecoming celebration Oct. 7 through 10 in the Hillsboro High School Auditorium. The Oct. 7 through 9 performances begin at 7:30 p.m., and the Sunday performance will begin at 2 p.m.

In the eccentric world of the Sycamores, life is lived fully in the moment. At the head of this hilarious family is Grandpa, a man who made his peace with the world a long time ago, and whose youthful philosophy is reflected in the entire Sycamore clan. When Alice, his granddaughter, falls in love with her boss's son, the stage is set — literally — for fireworks.

Michael Woods, Wichita, will take on the role of Grandpa Vanderhof and Kasey Buller, Henderson, Neb., will play his daughter Penelope who decided on a writing career simply because a typewriter was delivered to the house by mistake.

Landon Tucker, Wichita, will appear as Boris, the ballet teacher, and Sara Clark, Chapman, as Essie, his pupil who "wants to dance in the worst way!"

Paul and Mr. de Pinna, who manufacture fireworks in the Sycamore basement, will be played by Matthew Peiper, Marion, Iowa, and Thaine Kesler, Sabetha, respectively, and John Gramza, Olathe, will act the part of Ed, who is a printer when he isn't playing the xylophone.

Liz Finch, Houston, Texas, and Caleb Dirks, Durham, will be seen in the roles of Alice and Tony. Donya Anderson, Ardmore, Okla., and James Onijala, Wichita, are full members of the household as Reba and Donald.

Tony's dignified parents, who accidentally wander into the Sycamore household on the wrong evening will be played by Allison Kunkel, Hillsboro, and Lee Waldron, Bakersfield, Calif.

Adding greatly to the humor of the situation is Kelli Just, Hillsboro, who plays an aspiring actress, and Rachel Foote, Bethany, Okla., a Grand Duchess. Government officials Kevin Larson and Kyle Larson, both of Garden City, will do their best to establish law and order.

Tickets are now on sale. Prices are $8 for general seating and $6 for students. Call the Tabor College Student Development Office at 620-947-3121 ext. 1033 to reserve seats.
