Tabor baseball signs four

Tabor College head baseball coach John Sparks has signed four additional student-athletes to the 2004-05 roster.

Justin Wilczak, a 5-10, 175-pound outfielder, and Josh Letourneau, a 6-1, 165-pound outfielder/pitcher, both from Hayden High School in Topeka, played key roles in Hayden's 4A regional championship team which finished the season with a 16-7 record.

Wilczak hit .360 with 24 RBI's earning 2nd Team All City and Honorable Mention All-State honors. Letourneau hit .340 with 14 RBI's, earning Honorable Mention All-City and All-Centennial League Honors while posting a 2-2 record on the mound.

"We are very pleased that Justin and Josh will be part of our program next year," said Sparks. "Hayden has consistently been one of the better 4A teams in the state, and we are fortunate to have two fundamentally sound players from their program. We look to Josh and Justin to make an immediate impact next season."

John Bishop, Jr., a 6-0, 150-pound center fielder letter from Colorado Springs, Colo., earned 4A Honorable Mention and Who's Who in Baseball honors. The three-year varsity letterman also earned a place on the Coast to Coast baseball team which played in Puerto Rico June 25 through July 2.

He was also named a Gatorade special teams player of the year in football and earned a scholarship for volunteer work.

Josh Craig, a 5'9, 185 pound catcher from Mendocino Junior College in Northern Calif., earned Honorable Mention All Conference Honors his freshman and sophomore years, hitting .320 as a freshman and hitting as high as .360 this season before injuring his hand.

Craig was the three-time team MVP while attending Cordova High School, earning the title of league MVP his senior season.

"We are thrilled to sign a player of Josh Craig's ability," said Sparks. "The last piece to our recruiting puzzle was finding a quality catcher. We feel we definitely have succeeded in our goal by signing Josh."
