Tabor choir to perform for KMEA
The 51-voice Tabor College Concert Choir has been given a unique opportunity to perform for the Kansas Music Educators Association (KMEA) state convention in Wichita on Feb. 28.
The concert will be held at 2:45 p.m. in the Mary Jane Teall Theatre at Century II Convention Center, Wichita.
After submitting an audition tape including three songs recorded during last year's choir tour, Dr. Bradley Vogel, associate professor of choral music and choir director, was notified mid-August of their selection via a committee of music educators in Kansas.
"Invitations to perform at this convention are based upon the performance of the previous year's choir," said Vogel. "Last spring the choir accepted the challenge to perform at the level necessary to return to KMEA, and it is gratifying to set such a goal and achieve it."
After their performance, the choir will travel to Cici's Pizza at 8320 W. Central, Wichita. Parents, family members and alumni are invited to join the students in celebration of their achievement. Cost of the buffet is $3.99 plus drink. Those planning to attend the concert and eat pizza are encouraged to notify the Alumni Office by calling 620-947-3121, ext. 1706.
The KMEA performance will be recorded and available on CD and cassette in the spring.
The 2002 choir tour recording, Alleluia, is available now for only $12, tax included. Shipping is extra. To order the CD, contact the music department by mail: 400 S. Jefferson, Hillsboro, KS 67063; phone: 620-947-3121, ext. 1401; or e-mail carylw@tabor.edu.
