TABOR COLLEGE: Tennis squad dominates Kansas Wesleyan

The Tabor women's tennis team had a strong day Tuesday, decisively sweeping Kansas Wesleyan University in nine out of nine matches.

The Lady 'Jays didn't face much competition from the visiting Coyotes, who surrendered five matches by default. And in many of the others, the KWU squad didn't score once.

Tabor's top singles player, Katherine Klepper, defeated KW's Anna Feyerherm 6-1, 6-1. No. 2 singles player Nancy Isaac downed Erin Kelly 6-1, 6-0. No. 3 singles player Lindsay Miller had an even easier time, crushing Krysti Janick 6-0, 6-0.

The last three singles players, Kim Harden, Rachael Weber, and Sara Hogan all won by default.

In doubles, the top duo of Klepper and Isaac made short work of the Feyerherm/Kelly team, defeating them 6-1, 6-3.

The doubles teams of Miller-Harden and Hogan-Weber both won by default.

Tabor College is 2-1 in conference play since defeating Southwestern 9-0 in their first matchup of the season and losing to Bethel 1-8 on Sept. 10.

At last weekend's Concordia tourney in Lincoln, Neb., C flight player Hogan advanced the farthest, making it to the semi-finals. The tournament was non-conference, so it offered Tabor the chance to play against Great Plains Athletic Conference schools such as Hastings College and University of Nebraska-Omaha.

The team had some good wins at the tourney, and it was a good way to prepare for the rest of the season, said head coach Lonnie Isaac.
